The Scandalous Mistress Who Ruled France? | Diane de Poitiers

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Diane de Poitiers was an enigmatic figure - a young woman married to an older courtier was nothing new for 16th century France, but her intelligence and poise struck the court even before she became a young widow. And at that point, Diane forever entered history as the capable mistress of her much younger lover, King Henry II of France, and the quiet rival of his wife, Catherine de Medici. This video follows her extraordinary life, following Diane from an educated but quiet young girl to a strong woman navigating her way through a male-dominated world with ease....
