This video captures one of the most terrifying and dangerous skiing experiences I’ve ever faced. After a couple of uneventful runs on the icy Felsen, I decided to try something different for my last run. From the Internationale Chair, I spotted a line between the trees separating Felsen and International runs. What started as an adventurous idea quickly turned into a life-threatening challenge.
The slope was shockingly steep, covered in hard ice, and offered no safe way to turn or descend. Panic set in as I realized the true danger: a fall here would mean an uncontrollable tumble down the slope with no chance to stop—even for a professional with an ice axe, let alone me without one. I was seriously thinking that I was living last minutes of my life.
Every movement had to be precise. Slowly and deliberately, I side-slid down the most dangerous section, relying on the edges of my skis, which barely gripped the icy surface. I found myself with my hands trembling and my heart was pounding, fear gripping my every move, but I managed to calm myself down and regain control. Even now, as I write this, my palms are sweating just remembering the sheer fear of that moment.
I’m sharing this experience as a reminder to always choose your runs carefully, especially in icy and extreme conditions. No thrill is worth risking your safety, and it's crucial to respect the mountain's power. Stay safe out there.
