Jorge Ochoa is a little known drug trafficker from Medellin, Colombia. He grew up in a wealthy family of horse-breeding businessmen, but by the time the 1970's rolled around, he found himself involved in the burgeoning cocaine business. Along with his associate Pablo Escobar, young Jorge formed the infamous Medellin Cartel, the first super cartel of the new global narcotics trade. After making $3 billion and becoming one of the world's richest men, in 1991 Jorge voluntarily surrendered to the Colombian government in exchange for not getting extradited to the U.S. He spent only 5 and a half years in prison and was able to retain the wealth he had accumulated from the drug business. This makes him one of the most successful drug traffickers of all time. He is alive and well and living in Colombia to this day.
