The Shawshank Redemption (1994) is a drama film based on Stephen King's novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The movie follows Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a banker who is wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. He is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Prison, where he befriends Ellis "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), a long-time inmate.
Despite the harsh prison environment, Andy maintains hope and resilience. He uses his financial skills to help the corrupt warden launder money while secretly planning his escape. Over 19 years, Andy carefully digs a tunnel behind a poster in his cell. Eventually, he escapes and exposes the warden's corruption. Meanwhile, Red, initially skeptical of hope, is inspired by Andy and eventually earns parole, reuniting with him in Mexico.
