Crappie are one of the most popular sport-fish among light line anglers. I have caught plenty of Crappie in my day, but have never devoted a lot of time to learning about this species. In this series, I intend to target both Black & White Crappie in an effort to learn more about them and share that knowledge with all of you. In today's episode, I was after spawning crappie. After a few short minutes, I was able to find a couple of nice schools of spawning slabs. I caught them on a few Mule plastics before determining that the Slip Float Rig was the most effective way to catch them. This rig allowed me to hover a Mule Minnow in their face from a distance. I could cast it far enough and still easily detect bites by simply watching the float. This trip definitely convinced me to fish the Slip Float for bedding crappie in the future. In addition to catching bedding fish, I was also able to get on a nice little dock-shooting bite for a couple slabs as well as some jumbo bluegill. I will definitely be doing some dock-shooting videos in the future because that is straight up fun.
