The Song of Songs is one of the shortest books in the Old Testament and its content has been the subject of many translations, commentaries and interpretations. One of the essential factors for its inclusion in the Hebrew Bible was the allegorical interpretation that identified the beloved and his sweetheart with the God of Israel and its people. And although the Christian world inherited it with its allegorical interpretation, literal interpretations of the poems’ texts would subsequently come about. The actors Lidia Otón and Ernesto Arias read texts from the Song, translated and discussed by the CSIC researcher Emilia Fernández Tejero. The harpist Sara Águeda provides the music.
