Not lost. Properly forgotten. "You've Got To Walk It" was an obscure movie project Donald Fagen, Walter Becker, and Denny Dias were involved with prior to Steely Dan. They did if or the pay. Fagen later called the project: "Dog meat". It was a connection through Kenny Vance. The writer, director, and producer was Peter Locke who has drowning in a student project growing out of control. The film saw endless revisions through 1968, 1969, and even into 1970. It saw an interesting list of names pass through it as well: Richard Pryor, Robert Downey Sr., Roz Kelly, Allen Garfield, and even a rumored cameo by one "Donald Fagin". It was eventually released after some sawdusting, but...The film was then savaged upon release by the New York press. It soon after faded into obscurity. Like Steely Dan, Peter Locke preferred to have his juvenilia remain a mystery. The soundtrack was not sealed away into the vault with the footage. Songs like "Floatsam and Jetsam", "Roll Back the Meaning", "Dog Eat Dog", and "If It Rains" then clutter the Steely Dan catalog. These songs are not exactly "Reelin' In The Years" or "Gaucho", though they are a sort of "Dirty Work". Nor are these songs the grotesque and weird experiments like the Steely Dan demos. They're an odd in-between stage. Kenny Vance (due to a later contract agreement) was able to sell off the soundtrack after its release in 1971. Through the years, The Original Soundtrack has surfaced again and again in connection to Steely Dan. Ego, jokes, and, jives abound... Roll back the meaning. #steelydan - #rockmusic - #rockhistory ————— Credits: - Intro Animation by Isabel Armentero: https://www.artstation.com/erienstrf/ / Twitter: https://twitter.com/erienstrf?lang=en - Music from @MrHopeTelevision ————— Video Sources (Support the creators/uploaders): https://rentry.co/Youve_Got_To_Walk_It_Videos ————— Music: MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Megashine City" (00:20-03:57) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Show Biz Kids" (03:57-04:12) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Glamour Profession" (04:12-11:46) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Stand By the Seawall" (11:46-16:28) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Here At The Western World" (16:28-20:27) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Rose Darling" (20:27-26:35) MrHope Television (Steely Dan 8bit Demos) - "Jack of Speed" (26:35-30:37) ————— All copyrighted media, images, and music respective owner(s). ————— Sources: https://rentry.co/Youve_Got_To_Walk_It_Sources ————— Dog Eat Thanks For Watching
