Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down 2011s The Thing.

I always found it kinda funny how we have a movie thats about an alien that perfectly mimics it's victims and we then got a movie that mimicked that beat for beat even down to having the exact same title. Saying that though I think this is a pretty fun prequel that ends in a way that makes you instantly want to put John Carpenters on.
Throughout this video we're gonna be breaking it down scene by scene and talking about all the hidden details and things you missed in it.
Now there were several Thing sequels and remakes almost put into production over the years but they all failed to make it past the screenwriting phase. We even almost got a sci-fi series called Return Of The Thing that would take place in a small american town after the events of the movie. We of course had the game which acted as a sequel and several dark horse comics that continued the tale.
John Carpenter actually pitched his own sequel with him setting it after the events of the first film. Both Childs and Macready looking older would be explained with Frostbite and we'd continue and see how the Thing tried to get to civilisation.
