On April 6, 2025, we celebrate the 195th anniversary of the formal organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This milestone marks a sequence of miraculous events that led to the restoration of Christ’s original Church on earth. From the First Vision in 1820, where Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, to the translation of the Book of Mormon, the restoration of priesthood authority, and the eventual formal organization of the Church in 1830, each event played a crucial role in establishing the Savior's Church.
Joseph Smith was called as the earthly leader of this restoration, a prophet and seer chosen to bring back the fullness of the gospel, doctrine, and ordinances. The priesthood was restored through heavenly messengers, including John the Baptist and the Apostles Peter, James, and John, enabling the performance of ordinances like baptism and the sealing of families for eternity.
The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, stands alongside the Bible, testifying of the Savior and His divine plan for all of God's children. This sacred text brings clarity to the teachings of Jesus Christ and restores truths lost over time.
The Church, founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, continues to grow worldwide. The restoration of all things spoken by the prophets has led to the fulfillment of ancient prophecies, preparing the world for the Second Coming of the Lord. As members of Christ’s restored Church, we are invited to come unto Him, receive the Holy Ghost, and gain enduring joy.
I testify that this work is divinely inspired, and as we study the message of the Restoration and act in faith, we can each receive a personal witness of its truth. Through prayer, we can gain confidence in God’s promises and prepare for the glorious return of our Savior.
