Hello again, Carl Baldassarre here, bringing you another classic rock riff review. In this episode, I take my first trip into the music of Black Sabbath! I never listened to their music before and I was totally blown away by this band, the musicians, and Tony Iommi's guitar playing.
In order to narrow down the vast amount of magnificent material, I picked one song from each of their first 6 albums to dig into and analyze the most iconic Tony Iommi guitar riffs within the songs!
I was really impressed with how many great examples of the use of theme and variation in the riff writing of the band. It's quite classical in concept. Add to that the fact that this band swings and experiments you can't help to come away very impressed as a composer after listening to their music!
