What if healing could be found in the simple act of shaping clay? Pottery is more than an art—it’s a lesson in patience, resilience, and letting go. Through the rhythmic spin of the wheel, Shubham Sankhyan discovered a path to healing, especially after the loss of his father. Clay, like life, is fragile yet full of potential. It teaches us to embrace imperfections, trust the process, and recognize the hands that shape us—our families, mentors, and experiences. Just as a potter nurtures clay into form, we must nurture our relationships before it’s too late. This talk is a call to center ourselves, appreciate the hands that guide us, and find healing through creation. Because sometimes, the most profound lessons aren’t spoken—they’re shaped. Shubham Sankhyan is a skilled ceramic artist associated with the renowned Andretta Pottery in Himachal Pradesh, one of India’s oldest pottery studios. Located in the artist-centric village of Andretta, the studio is celebrated for its dedication to traditional pottery techniques and immersive learning experiences. Shubham’s journey began as a student at Andretta Pottery, where he completed a comprehensive course that ignited his passion for ceramics. Over the last two years, he has become a key member of the studio, guiding others in the intricacies of pottery-making, from shaping clay to glazing and firing. Beyond creating art, Shubham shares his expertise through workshops and introduces studio visitors to the entire pottery process. Known for his patience and craftsmanship, he inspires both guests and students to embrace the art of pottery. Additionally, Shubham manages the digital presence of Andretta Pottery, ensuring the studio’s rich legacy reaches a broader audience. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
