Muktinath Dham is considered one of the 108 Divya Desams of the Vaishnav sect. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and it is believed that visiting here destroys all sins.
It also has a special place in Buddhism – Lord Buddha's Avalokiteshvara form is worshipped here. That is why, this place is highly revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.
There are 108 streams behind the temple, from which icy cold water falls. It is said that bathing in these streams leads to salvation and liberation from all sins.
A natural fire keeps burning in the Jwala Maiya temple located near the Muktinath temple, which burns surprisingly without any external fuel. This place symbolizes the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and sky).
