God is all in all and when we enter into prayer, we become one with God on another level that allows our being to manifest God in the prayer and in all our activity. It’s nothing that we control, it is gift.
Here Fr. Thomas gives a short review of Centering Prayer, based upon the seven stages of the practice. As he describes them in an article at https://www.contemplativeoutreach.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/2012juneconewsletter.pdf, they are:
Silence
Solitude
Solidarity
Service
Stillness
Simplicity
Surrender
These thoughts are from a talk Fr. Thomas gave in July 2012 at St. Benedict's Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado to supporters of Contemplative Outreach.
