Bob Dylan made his way from Hibbing, Minnesota, to New York City in January of 1961 with barely five dollars in his pocket. No one knew who he was and no one would have assumed that he would, within just a few years, become arguably the most important American songwriter of the second-half of the 20th-Century. Dylan quickly became a hero to the fans of the modern folk-music revival, but he soon grew restless being restricted to that genre and his efforts to branch out were met with resistance from his staunch fanbase. The album Bringing It All Back Home was Dylan's experimentation with moving into more of an "electrified" rock music sound. He dipped his toe in the waters first before diving headfirst into it by the summer of 1965. This review is an attempt at answering the questions surrounding this monumental release of an album and how it kickstarted the idea of the full-length record as an artform, rather than just as a way of selling a couple of hit songs with the rest being throwaway B-side material. www.wolfrivermusic.com www.memoryfield.net Find us.
