It is in fact the first exhibition on Taoism in Europe.
However, although the subject is receiving more and more attention in the Western world, there is no documentary film presenting the main aspects of Taoism. Certainly, Taoism, at the same time philosophy, religion, culture and art of living, refuses any simple definition, but it has deeply irrigated Chinese society for nearly 3000 years and it represents the finest way to penetrate thought, Chinese culture and society.
The film sets out to meet Taoism in China, to identify its key concepts, evoke its genesis and understand the reasons for its rebirth in this country since the 1980s. It will plunge us into the heart of these ancestral practices and rituals which have been able to adapt to modernity. It draws on the magic of landscapes and temples, the mysterious beauty of Chinese art, the poetry of aphorisms and the fervor of followers, and will make the viewer feel the unequaled force of inspiration that Taoism represents for Chinese, after 60 years of communism."
