Wharton Esherick is recognized as a leader among artists of the 20th century working in wood. His works, furniture and furnishings are in major American museums and private collections. Located atop Valley Forge Mountain in Chester County, PA, his hand-built studio and home was created over a 40-year period. The property also includes his 1965 workshop designed in collaboration with Louis Kahn. Esherick died in 1970, but the studio has been preserved as visitors can experience his lifestyle and work without the signs and glass cases typically present in museums. 🎥 Originally aired on Movers & Makers "Recreational Reinvention" (Season 3, Episode 7).
