Hey everyone! Bit of a different one here. I spent around 12 hours upgrading through every Windows consumer operating system starting from Windows 1.0 all the way to 10. This is a timelapse (x10 speed) of the entire process. I put some awesome tunes in the back, so sit back and enjoy! (Or dance, I dunno, depends on if you like techno or not.)
Q: Why not Windows 11?
A: In order to upgrade Windows, you have to upgrade using the same architecture operating system. For example, Windows 7 x86 cannot upgrade to Windows 8 x64. The only exception is Windows 9x's ability to upgrade to Windows 2000 & XP, which not only 32-bit instead of 16-bit, but also switch from DOS to NT, it's really a wonder how they couldn't pull off an architecture change in the newer OSes! Anyways, to install to Windows 11 x64 would require some effort, so maybe I'll do it in it's own video!
Q: I noticed installs/programs took longer to load etc. as time went on. Why?
A: I'm gonna put it down to x86 getting worse and worse support as we went through the operating systems, but the computer became more unstable as we upgraded too, as it tried mixing ancient Windows elements with newer versions. For example, for some reason Windows 10 had a brown colour scheme. We never selected that in any previous operating system.
Q: What did you use to pull this off?
A: VirtualBox 5.2. I only had one previous attempt, and it was with VMWare. It didn't turn out so well, I think VirtualBox is better for more unstable systems.
Q: Will you make any more videos like this in the future?
A: If you guys enjoy it, yeah I will. I have a few ideas like this in mind so if you enjoy, let me know in the comments!
Thank you for watching, and I'm going to go to sleep now. This took wayyyy too long.
