Lesson 5 explores the concept of divine wrath as an expression of God's love. God's anger is directed against evil, injustice, and oppression, not out of arbitrary malice but in defense of His creation. Divine wrath is a loving response to the harm caused by sin, which hurts those God loves. Though God is slow to anger and abundant in compassion, His wrath is ultimately a righteous reaction to evil. Jesus also displayed righteous indignation, highlighting God's deep concern for justice. Christ’s atonement reconciles divine justice with mercy, offering salvation to believers from God's righteous judgment.
Psalm 78; Jonah 4:1-4; Matt. 10:8; Matt. 21:12, 13; Jer. 51:24, 25; Rom. 12:17-21.
“But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath” (Psalm 78:38, NKJV).
