In an orchestration lesson, I take the opening to Ethel Smyth's The Wreckers Overture, analyse and then attempt to use them as the basis for three orchestrations of my own. Using a theme I composed several years ago for a pirate game I aim for at least three solid orchestrations but, hop[efully, some that also sound like classic swashbuckler/romantic/Hollywood-esque.
