Oscar Francois de Jargere, the heir to a general's family, is a beautiful man dressed in men's clothes who was raised as a "son".
Marie Antoinette, the noble and graceful queen who has married from neighboring Austria.
Andre Grandier, Oskar's squire and childhood friend, is a commoner.
Hans Axel von Fersen, a handsome and intelligent Swedish count.
They meet in Versailles, France in the late 18th century, a time of prosperity, and live out their respective destinies beautifully, at the mercy of the times.
