This week brought daily tariff policy changes as President Trump seeks to execute his economic agenda. On Tuesday President Trump used an economic emergency declaration to enact 25% tariffs on nearly all goods from Canada and Mexico, and 10% tariffs on energy-related imports from Canada, including oil, natural gas and electricity. In a separate executive order Monday, President Trump also increased the tariff on all goods imported from China to 20%. In an address to Congress that night, President Trump announced that reciprocal tariffs would kick in on April 2, in response to Canada and Mexico announcing tariffs of their own on U.S. goods. But on Wednesday, more policy changes: The White House said it would give U.S. automakers a one-month reprieve from import tariffs so they are not at an "economic disadvantage." On Thursday he signed an executive order pausing 25% tariffs on some goods from Canada and Mexico for another month. And on Friday, President Trump said he is considering massive reciprocal tariffs on dairy, lumber and other imports from Canada. ------------------------------------- Join our newsletter at https://bit.ly/2q1tepr Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/scrippsnews/ Follow us on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/scrippsnews Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/scrippsnews/ Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@scrippsnews
