David Tronnes and his wife, Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, purchased a historic home in Orlando's Delaney Park neighborhood in April 2015. The 4,000-square-foot property, adorned with gargoyles and a pool, was intended to be their dream home. However, their renovation efforts soon spiraled out of control. The couple began extensive renovations, leading to the home being largely disassembled. Local contractor Keith Ori, who was later involved in the reality TV show Zombie House Flipping, described the state of the house as astonishing, noting that it had been taken down to the studs and beyond.
Tronnes purchased the house for over $600,000 in cash but placed it in a trust under his and his mother's names, excluding Shanti. Despite Shanti funding nearly $250,000 of the renovations, she was not listed as a co-owner, leading to significant financial and personal tensions between the couple .
The house became a central point of contention, especially after Shanti refused to appear on Zombie House Flipping, a show Tronnes hoped would bring financial relief. This disagreement contributed to escalating arguments, culminating in Shanti's tragic death in April 2018.
