Music has the power to change the course of human behavior. It’s truly the best medicine for the soul. Alright, it’s time to blast into the new year with some positivity… and what better way to do it that to countdown the 5 best feel-good songs of all time Songs that are bad mood killers and true celebrations of life love and the pursuit of happiness… Let’s do it. At #5, “it’s the “get you on your feet, instant attitude adjustment, courtesy of Katrina and the Waves!: It’s Walking on Sunshine” Sunshine," was written by Kimberley Rew, one of the Waves. It was originally featured on Katrina and the Waves' 1983 debut album. A re-recorded version of the song was later released as the second single from their 1985 self-titled album, and that is the version that lifted everyone’s spirits around the world to become an international hit. Before Katrina, Katrina Leskanich, joined the lineup, the band was simply known as The Waves. They were an English group fronted by Kimberley Rew, who eventually left in ’78 to play with Robyn Hitchcock in The Soft Boys. After The Soft Boys dissolved in ’81, Kimberly reunited with his former Waves bandmate, drummer Alex Cooper. The two teamed up with a pair of Americans, Katrina and Vince De La Cruz, whose fathers were stationed in England with the U.S. Air Force. Katrina, with her anti-glam image, stepped up as the new lead singer and rhythm guitarist, while Kimberly took on lead guitar duties. With Cooper on drums and De La Cruz handling bass, the refreshed lineup was set to make waves of their own: As good as that song makes us feel, the band actually didn’t like the song. Katrina stated that she & the rest of the group thought the song was not indicative of their sound. Victor De La Cruz called the track “irritating,” and even Kimberly, who composed “Walking on Sunshine” wasn’t all that impressed with his creation...
