Part 1 of a 3-part series.
I started day 1 from the Wyndham Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh PA on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024. From there I rode just over 54 miles to the Round Bottom primitive campsite, which was about 10 miles from Confluence PA. Had I had the chance to do it again, I probably would have ridden to the primitive campsite outside of Confluence.
Along the way I documented many points of interest from the outstanding PBS Documentary, "The Great Ride", which can be seen here (highly recommended if you are planning to ride or hike the trail).

My favorite stops were for the various small 'waterfalls', such as the Red Waterfall, and other bespoke trail features/art, which you'll have to watch the video to see. Totally worth it.
