The win over Davis Love III was Woods' seventh of the year -- the most since Tom Watson's seven wins in 1980. It was also his seventh win in his last 10 events around the world and the 10th straight time Woods has won after entering the final round with the lead. It also came days after the tragic passing of Payne Stewart, who had just won the U.S. Open at Pinehurst months earlier.
