13News meteorologists Chuck Lofton and Matt Standridge have an update on the timeline for some wintry weather and rain this weekend.
It is a very busy weekend with so many high school and college basketball, swimming, and wrestling across the state. Many sports are in championship mode, including high school girls basketball regionals!
A powerful winter storm is pushing across the entire country very quickly. It will bring snow showers to ice to heavy rain and back to snow across Indiana. While light, slick accumulation is possible Friday night, the icy spots will be temporary as we switch over to heavy rain at times Saturday.
We could pick up to 1-2 inches of rain across much of central Indiana. Southern Indiana is under a flood watch where 2-4 inches or more of rain are possible.
By early Sunday morning, rain should wrap up and we'll end the weekend with scattered snow showers on Sunday. Some light accumulations will be possible, especially north and east of Indianapolis. We wouldn't be surprised if some Hoosiers picked up an inch or so in spots. Not everyone is guaranteed accumulation at this time, but we do think most will see snow flurries. Scattered slick roads are possible, especially because pretreatment will be difficult after rain on Saturday.
Everyone will get something different! We'll be tracking the wintry weather and rainy weather across the state.
