A Tenon/Mortise joint is very basic but it's a useful joint. Here is what's processed in my head when cutting it.
If you are a beginner, I can understand just cutting one joint takes a long time and you may feel finishing a project would take forever as I felt exactly the same but I'm sure you can cut it quickly when you get used to it . Keep it up:)
