Atleast 13 men from AMbasamudram taluk in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu have alleged that they were subjected to custodial torture and their teeth were knocked out by Assistant Suprendindent of Police, Balveer Singh IPS. The issue came to light after the victims put out a video that went viral and forced the Tirunelveli district administration to order a probe led by sub-collector Shabbir Alam. Even as the probe is underway, several questions have been raised with the way the probe is being conducted and human rights activists have termed it as an exercise to cover-up the case.
