Hello! My name is Andy. How are you?
Let's talk about the Toki Pona language.

Toki Pona is a minimalist constructed language created by Sonja Lang in 2001. Designed to simplify thoughts and communication, it consists of only 120–137 root words (some use more, some less) and 14 phonemes. The language emphasizes clarity, positivity, and a focus on essential concepts, often requiring speakers to creatively combine words to express complex ideas. Its grammar is simple, and often relies heavily on context for meaning. It is also partly inspired by the Taoist philosophy, promoting positive ideas and simple thoughts. Words in toki pona derive from a wide variety of languages from all around the world, including Tok Pisin, Esperanto, Finnish, Acadian French, Georgian, Serbo-Croatian, Dutch, Chinese and many more, simplifying and adjusting words to the language's phonology.

There is also a sign language based on it called "luka pona", that differs in grammar but maintains the language's essence. Nowadays, it is said to have 500-5000 users all over the world. The largest groups are on Facebook, Discord and Reddit. Tokiponists are also known to hold poetry and literature contests, that allow users' creativity to flourish. To top it all off, several writing systems have been adapted to the language, and there are three main writing systems used by speakers; the Latin alphabet, sitelen pona (a logographic writing system in which each word has its own glyph) and sitelen sitelen or sitelen suwi, inspired by hieroglyphs, including the numerous community-made ones. Three main books have been released by its creator, "pu", an introduction to the language with every base word and grammar, "ku", a toki pona dictionary, and "su", the most recent one, a translation and adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, using sitelen pona glyphs.

This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes.
