This is my new favorite thing and has quickly become my go-to workflow when I need to produce a high volume of concepts efficiently. Tonal sketching! Half shape carving, half value painting and in many ways (but not all!) the best of both worlds.
Check out this really cool and useful technique and watch a painting take shape in the background.
FREE BRUSHES! If you'd like the brushes that I'm using, they can be found in the freebies channel in the DPS Discord https://www.digitalpaintingstudio.com/community
