As a local boy, I'm sharing my knowledge and travel tips so all visitors can have the best stay and get along with the locals. Report any of these violations to the NOAA Enforcement Hotline (1-888-256-9840) or the Department of Land and Natural Resources (1-808 587-0400). Taking a photo of the person in violation helps too. 2. Don't damage the Coral Reef The Coral Reefs are home to the Marine Life that rely on it for food and shelter. There are 2 ways to Damage the Coral reefs. 1) To step on it and 2) Using SunScreen that contains Octinoxate and Oxybenzone. 3. Don't be in a rush Take your time. Hawaii is a laid-back environment. Tips to Not Be in a Rush. Just plan one big attraction a day and visit 2 good food spots. Hawaii is not going anywhere. You can always come back. It's good to know the traffic hours so you can avoid them and have more time. The traffic hours are located in the video so you have to watch it again 😁 4. Don't leave your valuables Although Hawaii is paradise, we have thieves who steal. Thieves understand that people park and leave their cars unattended for hours when doing long hikes. Keep your valuables out of sight, and just bring what's necessary. Don't leave any valuables on the beach when you jump in the water. Your valuables may not be there when you come out of the water 🏖 5. Don't litter Seriously, 😠 look how beautiful these islands are. Don't eat at Large Restaurant Chains You can do that at home. Hawaii has so much good food served at the mom-and-pop restaurants. They are the heartbeat of Hawaii's economy. Support local 🤙 7. Never Turn Your Back to the Ocean Mother Nature is tougher than us all. Check the weather that day, go with a friend, and ask a lifeguard what they recommend for your experience level. And don't turn your back on the ocean for pictures! IG likes are not worth being swept away by the waves! 8. The Don'ts When Hiking There are many don'ts when hiking. Please follow all the hiking rules. For your safety, don't start your hike late afternoon, when it's rainy, and do a hard hike that is beyond your limits. Pele- The Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes will put a curse on YOU!! Do you really want to find out if that's true or not? Leave nature just the way you found it. 10. Don't Stay ONLY in Waikiki Yes, I'm talking to YOU. The person who booked their entire stay in Waikiki and doesn't plan on leaving.
