In this video we take a look at my top 5 rail preservation accomplishments I have filmed this year. There are others I have filmed and surely some I didn't cover at all but I have chosen these as the most significant, in my opinion. These are arranged in chronological order starting with the New York Central electrics that were saved from the torch in New York and brought to Danbury, CT in January 2024. Next up is New Haven FL9 2015, later CDOT 2027 and MC 2027. This engine was in storage for years after being retired by CDOT and was purchased by a failed commuter rail start up in 2018. The start up moved the engine to a couple different storage locations until the Mass Coastal Railroad stepped in and brought it to Cape Cod, MA. The unit is currently awaiting restoration and a paint job into Mass Coastal colors in Hyannis, MA. Next up is the New Haven Roger Williams trainset's trip to Canaan, CT. This was a joint effort between the Berkshire Scenic Railway and the Housatonic Railroad and hopefully we'll see more events like this in the future. Fourth up is the Flying Yankee being moved to the Conway Scenic Railroad in Conway, NH. The trainset had been previously stored in Lincoln, NH and was moved to Conway for future restoration and operation. I didn't catch the move but was able to attend the Flying Yankee Association's first public open house after the move. Lastly we see the 470 Club's Boston & Maine GP9 which was finished and put into service in the fall. The video shows some clips of it during its official debut on the 470 Club Excursion. This was also the first time in many years two B&M F7's and a BM GP unit pulled a train together. New England 2024 Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/140450285@N07/ Comments? Questions?
