Today's system test on the voice evacuation fire alarm demonstration board has the hazard alarm programmed to an alternate wail audio file from a Federal Signal Modulator II siren. Downtown Chicago, IL is known in the siren community for its use of the alternate wail melody on their outdoor tornado/severe weather warning sirens. Alternate wail is considered by many as spooky which is one of the reasons why I think this alert sound is very effective at public notification.
