Sometimes you just stumble on an arrangement that's bigger than life and it puts your day on hold.
I've prowled through t=NODE before, even uploaded a whole bunch of Yuy's work on this channel, but it has been quite a while. So I decided to do another dive and rediscovered this gem. I had other things planned for this evening but here I am, feeling things.
The entry of Ancient Temple at 2:13 absolutely destroys me. Even though it's the IaMP version of Ancient Temple that I'm not a huge fan of, it's the gentleness of the piano and how the rest of the instruments quiet down to give it space that really makes it land.
The rest of the arrangement gives all of the goodness you'd expect from this artist. I can't say much I haven't said already in the past, but it bears repeating that even though Yuy never used unique instruments in their work, the style is still unmistakable and no other arranger's work sounds like this. If you love it like I do, there's quite a lot of it to enjoy (7 albums with most tracks over 4 minutes, many over 6 and some even over 10) and if you don't, you don't have to hear it from anyone else. It has its special little corner - the absolute best thing to have when it comes to art.
The segment starting at 4:30 reminds me of Last Remote, but why would it be Last Remote..? Maybe it's just Till When backtrack with some improv. It's sometimes hard to tell with Yuy's work.
