My patio garden is the hottest spot in my landscape so the plants that live here have to be able to take the heat. They also need to be able to fend for themselves after the initial rooting in period. I don't have drip irrigation and you might be surprised to see a few plants with rather thirsty reputations. They would probably perform even better if I watered frequently but I'm pleased with their growth despite my tough love. As for the containers, they are watered frequently. One is particularly thirsty but so worth the extra effort! Let me show you around! Hi there! My name is Heather and I garden in zone 5B, recently changed to 6a, in the southwest suburbs of Chicago on a small residential lot. My garden lives a whole lot larger than it is and I love sharing tips and tricks, as well as plenty of mistakes, with others who love to play in the dirt.
