China has responded to the latest round of US tariffs by imposing new duties on American agricultural and food products, reported news agency Reuters.
The move comes just days after US President Donald Trump announced an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods, bringing the total tariff level to 20%.
Beijing announced that starting from March 10, it will impose a 15% tariff on US chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton. It will also place an extra 10% duty on soybeans, sorghum, pork, beef, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and dairy imports. In addition, China has placed 25 American firms under export and investment restrictions.
