Bead-work taught by: Linda van Wieringen, a passionate teacher, and President/Elder and Region 3 Women’s Representative for the Vernon & District Métis Association. Linda is also the Elder/Cultural Educator for the Nobody’s Perfect Peetigway and Headstart programs, and Canadian Mental Health Association. Since 2008, Linda has been fascinated with her Cree/Métis heritage, and began studying the culture and teaching classes in traditional bead-work, drum and rattle making, as well as moccasins and leather work. A passionate teacher, Linda loves sharing her heritage and passing along her knowledge so all may better understand the Métis culture and traditions. Supplies required: • 2 - 3 inch squares of felt • 3 inch square of stiff interfacing/stabilizer. The workshop facilitator uses a heavy Pellon found at any fabric store. • 10/0 size precoisa seed beads in Yellow, Red and Blue • size 12 beading needle • Beading thread - size D Nymo or a quilting thread will also work • Printed 2.5 inch five point flower outline.
