Taking the train from Bangkok (Hualamphong) to Pattaya may not be the fastest way to reach this beach destination, but the extra travel time is more than worth it for the scenic views you won’t get on the highway. Train 283 takes passengers through Chachoengsao Province, crossing the mighty Bang Pakong River, and then heads south to Chonburi and Pattaya before reaching Chuk Samet. Between Lat Krabang and Siracha, you’ll pass plenty of freight train traffic and might even spot some Panda locomotives.
I hopped off in Pattaya Tai for a relaxing weekend beach getaway, escaping the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. On my return, I boarded Ordinary Train 284, taking the same route back but sitting on the opposite side to fully capture the experience.
