The unique design where a railway line runs down the middle of a main street is a very rare sight across the world, with more removed each year however, the small town in Victoria's Mallee region of Wycheproof embraces having the design which brings tourism through heritage trains from Melbourne!
Wycheproof is only one of three towns to still have an active railway line running down the centre of a street in Australia, with the other two towns both in Queensland. The line that runs to Sealake is a lightly used Broad Gauge 1600mm (5 ft 3 in) with seasonal ad-hoc Grain Trains the main traffic on the line, with occasion heritage trains across the year also running. Of the Grain Trains, Pacific National and Southern Shorthaul Railroad operate services on the line however, train frequency can be anywhere from 0 services each week to daily return services to loading sites at several grain sites.
