3 Norfolk Southern Heritage Units & 7 Trains In The Snow. Eating Lunch By The Railroad With Railfans When 2 Trains Pass Through Glendale, Ohio On The Old Baltimore And Ohio Railroad. Conrail Locomotive Leading A Train With Central Of Georgia Following. The Savannah & Atlantic Heritage Unit Is Leading A Train Past The Train Station And Railroad Crossing.
I went to Glendale, Ohio once again to meet up with the railfans and eat lunch at the Glendale Trackside Pub which used to be the Cock N Bull restaurant. A railfan came all the way from Wisconsin to eat by the tracks after watching our videos. His name is Pat ( poowg2657 ) and you will see him in the video saying "Wait, There's More!" It was another cold day with plenty of snow on the ground.
Right when I was arriving I filmed a southbound manifest at the Sharon Road crossing in Glendale, Ohio. I heard the train approaching Crescentville on 160.230 and knew it would be close. Good thing I got that one because it was a slow train day.
Right after I took a bite of my fish sandwich I heard a train passing the defect detector at mile post 13.5 and we were at mile post 15 so I had to hurry outside. A few other fans came out also. Then shortly after that another train came so I went back out and got that one. It had the Conrail HU leading and had another HU. It would be a couple hours until the next train came.
Channel 5 News showed up to interview the police officer and city employee who helped push a car off the tracks a couple nights ago just before a train came. We see them doing the interview in front of the Glendale Trackside Pub. Shortly after that a train came with the Savannah & Atlantic Heritage Unit leading. This train stopped behind the train station to wait for a clear signal. Check out the awesome shot I got of that locomotive at the railroad crossing and passing the signals!
Right when I was getting ready to leave the Tropicana local came through southbound. I was in my truck and about to leave. I noticed the green light so I stuck around and waited for another mixed freight. Got lucky! This train was a northbound and the sixth train of the day. I was able to film this train knocking down the signal. That is railroad jargon for having the signal drop from green to red as the train passes it.
I finally left after the 6th train of the day and took the shortcut route to skip getting on Interstate 75. This time it paid off because I stopped by a train on the Norfolk Southern New Castle Sub. It happened to be a southbound CSX mixed freight. This line is predominantly southbound and the CSX line in Glendale is predominantly northbound with a bunch of exceptions.
