Trains Stuggle On This Steep Grade Out Of The Ohio River Valley! Listen to the mid train DPU working hard and screaming up the hill. Look at the sand sprayed on the rail for the Norfolk Southern mixed freight going up the hill with a Union Pacific Railroad DPU working for all its worth. The first train is going down the hill toward the Ohio River from Crescent Springs, Kentucky and has to keep its freight under control. The second train is going up the hill and you can see the sand cloud coming off the rails from the lead locomotive. The 2nd train is the main subject of this video. Have you ever heard a DPU working this hard as the mid train DPU earns its keep? That second train was huge! Does anyone know why the train got so loud at 21:35? That was ear piercing. This is the Norfolk Southern Rat Hole line and is a main line that runs from Cincinnati to Chattanooga, Tennessee . Best frequency is 160.950 and there are plenty of defect detectors and the trains still call out the signals. This might be the steepest part of track on this line.
