Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Symmetrical scales, also known by their fancier name Modes of Limited Transposition, are perhaps one of the weirdest topics we've ever covered. First described by Olivier Messiaen, they represent a nearly complete departure from the way harmony normally works. Fundamentally, they're scales that don't like to move. They contain multiple copies of themselves, so if you try to change keys you may wind up right back where you started. What does that mean? Well, you'll have to watch the video! If you want to learn more, you can find Messiaen's descriptions (Along with some of his other inventions) here: https://monoskop.org/images/5/50/Messiaen_Olivier_The_Technique_of_My_Musical_Language.pdf Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/12tonevideos Mailing List: http://eepurl.com/bCTDaj Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/12tonevideos Twitter: https://twitter.com/12tonevideos Email: [email protected] Modes Video: https://youtu.be/NIIQKMbHSrI Next: https://youtu.be/AjQeT16H9LQ Last: https://youtu.be/ToOqsk8m220 Huge thanks to our gold-level Patreon supporters: Ron Jones Jill Jones Susan Jones Howard Levine Elaine Pratt Ken Arnold And thanks as well to José N., Logan Jones, Henry Reich, and Jdominioni!
