Treaty Talk: What are our children learning?

On 10 June 2024, Dr Pat Makokis and Hayley Christen joined the Being Good Relations Network for a time of learning, film-viewing, and conversation in honour of Indigenous History Month. This recorded webinar is your invitation to hear from these two knowledge keepers. Dr. Patricia Makokis, Saddle Lake Cree Nation, is a servant leader, film producer and walk organizer. Hayley Christen is the Coordinator of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Learning Services, Red Deer Public Schools Being Good Relations is a community-based network of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, based in the United Church of Canada but certainly not exclusive to it. Participants on all paths are welcome. It focuses on right relationship, learning, and action in the service of truth and reconcili-action. It is active primarily in the treaty lands of Alberta, Northeast British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. Our focus in this workshop: What we can carry forward together from the Treaty Walks, whose story is told in the film; and a discussion of what our children are learning today.
