This film documents a residency period in the making of One | All and also includes excerpts from live performances of the earlier pieces in the trilogy - AR | DHA and Poo | Poo.
AR | DHA was the narrative starting point of exploration, commissioned by Jacob’s Pillow.
Poo | Poo further developed the myth to explore our identities as children of immigrants, negotiating privilege and marginalization, using Brechtian techniques to break the fourth wall and allow the audience into personal journeys that became a bridge to understanding the ancient myth.
One | All, performed in Qatar at “Festival of Motion” during the World Cup, used the myth to examine the nature of competition itself and challenge society’s need for a winner. Inclusivity and Oneness being an ideal was augmented by the show being performed in an open air public space in Doha, which historically has had limited cultural engagement with live dance.
