This inexpensive script, Super Magic Eraser, will trim your artwork to the artboard in Adobe Illustrator, saving you time and effort by automating the process. It's a unique tool because it not only performs precise cropping but also handles multi-step tasks like expanding strokes, trimming shapes, and maintaining continuous gradients with one click.
In this tutorial, I give an overview of how it works, and I demonstrate step-by-step how to crop a seamless repeat pattern tile. First, we drag a repeat pattern fill swatch out of the Swatches panel and use the bounding shape to create a perfectly sized artboard to crop to. Then, I show you how to use the script to perfectly expand the strokes and trim the artwork automatically.
I also show you what types of content you need to expand manually. To learn about expanding, watch my video: https://youtu.be/4Fm47wqQOcM
