On December 23, 2013, twenty-two-year-old Ilona Flint finished her shift at a shopping center store, where she often worked late during the Christmas season. This night, she left work just after midnight, expecting her boyfriend to pick her up from the parking lot. However, he did not arrive and did not respond to her messages. Concerned, she reached out to her boyfriend's brother, whom she got along with well, and asked him for a ride home. He agreed to help her, but unfortunately, they never made it home.
On that fateful night, a dangerous criminal chose to practice his murderous skills by targeting the Belvedere family. This decision led to a terrible tragedy. The Belvedere family was well-respected and had a reputation for being good, honest, and crime-free. Ilona had just moved to San Diego, California, where she was lively, energetic, and determined. Love had blossomed between her and Giani Belvedere, and they had announced their engagement shortly before the tragedy. They loved each other and were eager to start a family together. Giani’s parents had become very close to Ilona. They treated her like their own daughter and they had a wonderful relationship from the very beginning. All of this contributed to their belief in a bright future for the couple.
Not even their brightest dreams could protect them from the violent criminals of 2013. A shooting broke out in the parking lot of the Minvel shopping center in San Diego. One of the store employees noticed a suspicious person and called the police. Before that, Ilona Flint frantically dialed nine one one, telling the dispatcher that a stranger was threatening her. The driver of the car she was in was her boyfriend's two-year-old brother, Salvatore Belvedere. Suddenly, the call with Ilona was interrupted. The dispatcher sent patrol officers to the area to investigate.
