This is going to be the second tutorial in this lecture series on truss. In this tutorial we will be discussing as to how the axial forces in any member of a given truss can be calculated. The method adopted is Method of Section. If you have seen my previous lectures on method of joints then you must have realised that this method proved very effective especially when we are supposed to find the axial forces in almost all the members. But hey, you cannot deny the fact that method of joints is a bit tedious. Now suppose you have been asked to find the axial force in any particular member of a truss, then method of section really helps..... Watch the video entirely to have a firm grasp on the method application. Problem Description: Determine by the method of sections the axial force in the member EB of the truss as shown in the figure below.
