There is a tug of war between Quepem MLA Alton D’Costa’s supporters and BJP Member and Former MLA Babu Kavalekar’s supporters to host the Shigmotsav celebrations in Quepem. When Babu Kavalekar was MLA the celebrations were hosted by him. But in 2024 the Shigmotsav was organized by the Quepem Municipality which is supporting Babu Kavalekar. Now Altone D’Souza’s supporters are demanding that the event be organized under the chairmanship of the sitting MLA.
