How to build a rubble / ruins road terrain base for a WW1 or WW2 diorama using XPS foam, sculptamold / Papier-mâché, plaster of paris, and acrylic paints. In this tutorial we build a simple road with piles of ruins / brick rubble at the side of it. This is ideal for military vehicles or figures based in World War 1 or World War 2, in a variety of settings. The rubble could represent the Home Front with vehicles travelling the bombed-out streets of London, or the Allies final advance in to the destruction of 1945 Berlin. The terrain can be used with a specific model or as a background/backdrop for photographing your finished models.
