Overnight Hiker Rescue Conducted On Mt. Washington & Three Hikers in Distress on Franconia Ridge
During a brutal winter storm on Mt. Washington, two hikers became stranded in chest-deep snow and whiteout conditions near the Jewell Trail. Facing -2°F temperatures and 60mph winds, they were rescued overnight by a team of skilled search and rescue personnel, ultimately surviving thanks to their preparedness and the efforts of multiple agencies.
Three hikers attempting the Falling Waters/Bridle Path Loop in whiteout conditions activated an SOS after struggling with deep snow and cold-related injuries near Mt. Lincoln. Rescuers reached them below Greenleaf Hut and guided them to safety.
There have been a couple hikers online who have really inspired me. I attended both of their livestreams the other night and learned so much!
